There seems to be a lot of confusion zooming around about what Health Coaches do. It is normal, coaching is a rather new technique when it comes to health and lately we seem to be needing coaches for every aspect of our life: career, life, business, health… marriage coaches anyone?

The truth is that coaching is a training or process in which one person “coach” encourages, supports and guides another one “coachee” to achieve an specific goal. When it comes to Health Coaching the goal or goals are health related (dah!)

Health Coaches are not doctors in Medicine, Nutritionist or Dietician and do not diagnose, treat, prevent or cure any disease or condition. They are also not intended to replace these professionals but they usually collaborate with them so the “coachee” is successful on achieving his/her goals.

Health Coaching draws on the principles of positive psychology which aims towards the “coachee” listen to his/her inner wisdom, set his/her own goals and transform them into concrete actions. By empowering the “coachee” he/she is able to take responsibility, introduce changes in his/her behaviour and improve his health and overall wellness.

To be able to achieve our goals, there must be a connection between what we think, what we feel and what we do. Health Coaching programs seek changes to be made in an integral manner that connects the body, mind and soul.
