This juice was inspired by my morning walk. Yes folks, it is fall. The leaves in the trees are starting to change colors, the air hints the smell of roasted chestnuts and by 8 pm is dark out. I usually don’t mind the changing of the seasons but this year I feel a bit cheated because summer hasn’t been as splendorous as it usually is in Lisbon. But pumpkins and Halloween ornaments are starting to show up in unexpected corners so it means that there’s no way back.

This rant charged with melancholy and gloom may be partially exacerbated by the mild cold I’ve been carrying around for the past 3-4 weeks, not even a 3 day juice detox was able to wipe it out completely. Since I’ve been reading relentlessly that turmeric and ginger are the greatest in these snotty situations I decided to try a new juice with the ingredients I had at hand.

Apple and Sweet Potato Juice

Serves: 1
  • 1 big sweet potato
  • 2 apples
  • 1 chunk of ginger (the bigger the stronger the flavor)
  • 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder
  • 1 tablespoon of raw honey
  1. Juice the sweet potato, the apples and the ginger. Add the turmeric powder and the honey to the juice and stir well.
